MEGA-SLAYER-DETH.

Some images at bottom.

Last night was fun, and by my interpretation the show was good. Not the best, but good.

The venue was Festival Hall - which surprises me, because that place is notoriously dingy. We missed the opening acts (Not necessarily a bad thing), and caught the very beginning of Megadeth. They opened on a sound check, having to find a way to reduce some severe feedback issues.

And they went on to produce a fantastic set. They played some fantastic music, and somewhere under all the hair, was an energetic Dave Mustaine.

Slayer opened with similar difficulties, and Tom Araya's voice was royally fucked (As in, literally, some throat problem, no voice) so most of Slayer's set was instrumental, which I don't mind. The music has some kickass elements that still make it bloody fantastic, despite the fact that the vocals/lyrics, are (obviously) an enormous part of the fabric of the music.

They had three complementary singers, to fill in for those all-important songs when Tom couldn't sing. The first two were great, the third was a bit of a dope.

Despite this, the set was brilliant, the band was energetic (I have a massive new found respect for Dave Lombardo, after watching his drumming live), and they played an excellent line up of songs. However. Towards the end, Jeff's guitar work slipped a bit, ending in excessively screechy, and off tone guitaring. I'm not sure what it was, but some points sounded too deep, others way too high.

I'm willing to give some leeway for this, though, because the venue was Festival Hall; pretty shitty for anything remotely thrashtastic.

Anyway. I went out to have a good night, and I had one. The most important thing is I liked the sets (Considering the drawbacks, they were fantastic, still) and had fun.

Music! D:

:sing:
Awaken in a web like hell,
How did I reach this place,
Why are they haunting me,
I cannot look at God's face.

Paralyzing!
Brilliant light,
Trying to run,
Want to scream but cannot speak,
I cannot look at God's face.

Blind my eyes I can't see,
What is being done to me,
In my mind only pain,
All the memories are drained.

Victimzed!
Specimen,
Deathless torture,
Void with no mercy,
Black shroud blinds those who see.

Violated!
Naked before you I stand,
Shattered shrine of flesh and bone,
God's piercing through my soul.

Segments of my life,
Morbid pieces of reality,
Twisted personality,
Many faces yet faceless,
Familiar things give way to strange,
No mercy no reason just pain.

Fatal!
Sub-conscious control,
Threshold of pain unfolds,
Transfixed martyr saving race,
Who am I to judge thy grace.

Awaken in a web like hell,
How did I reach this place,
Why are they haunting me,
I cannot look at God's face.

Blind my eyes I can't see,
What is being done to me,
In my mind only pain,
All the memories are drained.
